The key idea here is that cloning copies the pipe’s metadata, not the underlying storage resources it points to. Internal stages are Snowflake-managed storage objects that exist within the account’s metadata, and they are not duplicated when you clone. So a pipe that references an internal stage will come along in the clone with the same stage name, but the actual internal stage isn’t created again in the clone. That means the clone would not be immediately functional unless you recreate the corresponding internal stage in the cloned environment or adjust the pipe to point to a stage that exists there. This is why pipes referencing internal stages are not automatically cloned.
